Spiralheart’s 2016 Sacred Leadership Workshop
Unflinching Gaze, Unflinching Heart:
The Mirror of Community & the Role of the Priestess
In this workshop we will call on all that we have learned from Freyja over the past year, and we will stretch out a hand to Medusa as we meet and welcome her into our magic for the year to come. Both Freya and Medusa have the ability to see The Truth, the Heart of the Matter, the Stark Reality. With these Goddesses by our side, we will cultivate our own Unflinching Gaze, and nurture our own ability to Know the Hearts of Things. We will examine what it really means to step into leadership, and what it means to actively priestess our rituals and our lives.
We will look at how we create ritual, and discover our own priestessing blind spots. We will look deeply at the pivotal moments that exist in all rituals, and challenge ourselves to see them clearly. We will stare into our own places of mutability and transition; we will feel our own personal reactions to the rituals we create. In the process we may use our unflinching gaze to look in the mirror, explore our own reflection, and the reflections that the over-culture casts upon us. We may stare into the eyes of our own Privilege and our own Challenges. And like both Freyja and Medusa, it is through our willingness to see the Truth and to act upon it, that we will change our rituals, our communities, and our lives.
This workshop is for those that desire to touch The Heart of Things, to see with an Unflinching Gaze, and to turn both heart and eye toward the Self and the Community. This is a workshop for those who want to serve their community through priestessing, learning to navigate the transition between self and service. This is a workshop for those who want to hone their priestessing skills– to refine their priestessing ‘touch’. This is a workshop for those who want to examine their own souls; who want to look at their lives and see things as they are, and not as they wish them to be. This is for those who want to confront their own rationalizations, and throw off the blindfold that society encourages us to wear. This is for those who seek the truth. Through trance journeying, deep listening, soundscaping, journaling, and other techniques, we will work with the mirror of Community and its many reflections.

The Cauldron of Cerridwen: Power and Transformation – A Myth for the Dark Half of the Year
(offered through Bone and Briar)
Cerridwen works for a year and a day to create a potion for her son, as she deems him too ugly to be admitted among men of noble birth.
This story is about control. Have you ever sought to mitigate circumstances for someone else? Have you ever tried to step in and shift someone else’s fate?
Gwion Bach is hired to stir the Cauldron of Inspiration for a year and a day, never stopping. On the last day three drops of the potion land on Gwion’s hand, and without thinking, he tastes them, gaining all the benefits of the potion.
This story is about work and reward. Have you ever done work that someone else would benefit from? Have you ever become more powerful from doing work without thinking of reward?
Cerridwen, upon learning that her potion was lost, chased after Gwion. Gwion changed into a variety of animals to outrun Cerridwen, but she also shapeshifted to keep up with him.
This story is about running from power. Have you ever thought you could outrun change? Growth? Yourself? A Goddess?

The Iron Pentacle is a tool of self-integration using the points of Sex, Pride, Self, Power and Passion to explore our inner shadows and the cultural shadows that we all deal with on a daily basis. Part of our work is to learn how we hold the qualities of the points in harmony, tension and balance.
Sex: This is a point filled with shadows surrounding sex, sexuality, creativity, fertility, and body image. How do we integrate these shadows to form a healthy relationship with ourselves as sexual beings?
Pride: Is it ok to feel pride in our accomplishments? How does pride relate to self-esteem? We examine the shadows of being proud and the struggle to become right-sized in our pride.
Self: As we delve into the Three aspects of self from Spiral Dance, we explore all the different masks/selves we wear. What functions do they serve, are they still necessary or are they left-overs from some past experience? Who are you?
Power: As we explore the concepts of different kinds of power including, power-over, power-from-within, and power-with, we examine power dynamics and their effects on our lives. We remember times when we have felt power-less and powerful and when we have felt comfortable with our own personal power.
Passion: What is it that excites you? What nourishes your soul and feeds the fires within? How can we keep these passions in balance while still earning a living or doing other mundane tasks? How can you be nourished by your passions and not burned out by them?
Join us and we explore using the Iron Pentacle for dealing with secrets. We all have them, we all keep them. What does it mean to be bound in this way? Is there a shelf-life to secrets? What do you do when the secret is so old it is now stale, but you are oathed to keeping your silence? What about the secrets vowed to muteness from the world that you keep only with yourself?
The Iron Pentacle is an outstanding and adaptable tool. Discover one more area the points can be experienced in relation to secrets.

Join us for Nettles to Nirvana: A Personal Practice Boot Camp! (See what we did there? You’ll still get your Zen wallpaper. It just may have some rips in it.) Our weekend intensive will take you on a deep and focused journey to develop and sustain a meaningful personal practice that will transform you, and thus your life.
Are you ready for Boot Camp?
This is a Pagan spiritual intensive, but it is open to all that are open to working within a pagan context to achieve their spiritual goals. We will be exploring the 12 Wild Swans story to discuss the usefulness of personal practice, but to also work with the challenges that arise from serious, devoted and life-changing Work. By the end of the class, participants should walk away with a clearer sense of what they are looking for from a personal practice, a knowledge of what methods appeal to them, a better sense of their personal blocks when it comes to sustaining Deep Work, and an opportunity to experience more clarity and focus for their personal journey.
